How to Scan a QR Code on Mac

macOS does not include a dedicated QR scanner, but decoding a code is simple. Take a screenshot of an on-screen code and decode the image online, or point your Mac’s camera at a physical code using a browser-based scanner.

   Screenshot the code

   Press Cmd + Shift + 4 and drag to select the QR code on screen.

   Open an online scanner

   Visit a browser-based QR scanner in Safari, Chrome or your preferred browser.

   Upload or paste

   Drag the screenshot onto the scanner or paste it with Cmd + V to decode it instantly.
