ScannerQR

Scan a QR Code From a Screenshot

Got the code on your own screen? Paste the screenshot and decode it.

You cannot point your phone camera at a QR code that is displayed on the same phone. The trick is to take a screenshot and decode the image instead. ScannerQR reads the screenshot directly, so you can open codes that appear inside apps, emails, websites and chat messages.

How it works

    1

    Capture the screen

Take a screenshot of the QR code using your device’s standard screenshot shortcut.

    2

    Paste or upload it

Paste directly with Ctrl/Cmd + V, or upload the saved screenshot from your photos or files.

    3

    Open the link

The decoded destination appears immediately, ready to open or copy.

When you need this

A QR code shows up in a mobile app, a banking message, an event confirmation email, or a website you are already viewing on your phone — and there is no second device to scan it with.

Taking a screenshot captures the code as an image, which you can then paste or upload here to reveal its contents.

How to take a screenshot

On iPhone: press the Side button and Volume Up together. On most Android phones: press Power and Volume Down together.

On Windows: press Win + Shift + S to capture a region. On Mac: press Cmd + Shift + 4 to select an area, or Cmd + Shift + 3 for the full screen.

Decode without losing privacy

Screenshots can contain sensitive information. Because ScannerQR decodes entirely in your browser, the screenshot is never uploaded, stored or transmitted anywhere.
